Welcome to our website
Kirby Muxloe is a small village in south-west Leicestershire, England. The Kirby Muxloe History Group is dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich heritage of our village.
We actively promote our group through displays in St Bart’s Church Hall and the library. We also have a monthly feature in “The Local" magazine which is a free publication and circulated to 6,800 households in the surrounding area.

Our aim is to foster a sense of community whilst undertaking projects such as regular meetings, exhibitions, interviews and studies of the older buildings in our village.
We invite you to explore our collection and learn more about our village’s fascinating past. Our archive offers a wealth of information about Kirby Muxloe’s people, places and events.

In April 2026 we listed to a very informative talk on John Flower, the Leicester artist. The talk given by local historian Leigh Picciano Moss, was very interesting and opened our eyes to many of the beautiful paintings and drawings that he executed during his lifetime.
John Flower 1793-1861 was born in Leicester and lived most of his life in and around Leicester. He was known by locals as the 'Leicester Artist'
Leigh's talk was accompanied by many beautiful pictures depicting buildings in and around Leicester.
Appropriately the final picture was one of many that he drew of Kirby Muxloe Castle.
